From November 18, the Sustainability Ladder Business Events (DLZE) is available. This tool helps agencies, clients, venues and suppliers to organize events demonstrably more sustainably and socially. The ladder is an initiative of Green Events, trade association IDEA and brand experience agency The Groundbreakers and was created with financial support from the BE Future program.
From fragmentation to a shared approach
The DLZE answers a clear need. There is little regulation around sustainability and inclusivity in business events. Many organizations each have their own policy. With the DLZE, the industry gets a shared growth and conversation model with which all parties in the chain – from agency and client to venue and supplier – can work uniformly on sustainability and inclusion.
Practical compass
The DLZE is not a certification, but a practical tool. The model includes thirteen themes in the field of ecology, social and governance (ESG), such as energy, materials, mobility, diversity & inclusion and organizational culture. The DLZE is directly applicable: you determine yourself where you stand per theme and which steps are logical. The ladder also provides structure for impact measurement: which data do you collect and what does that say about your ecological and social footprint?
From ambition to action
The strength of the DLZE lies in its simplicity: the ladder has five steps that provide insight into where you stand and what next steps are possible. You don’t have to immediately create the perfect picture. Start, learn, grow, and work further each year on the themes that fit your organization. The ladder will help with that.
Benefits for clients, agencies and industry
Clients can use the ladder to create internal support and substantiate and measure sustainable choices. For agencies and companies in the event industry ecosystem, it’s an opportunity to distinguish themselves and make ambitions tangible.
Free available for the entire industry
The DLZE is freely available for the entire sector, so you can get started with sustainability and inclusion in an accessible way. Download DLZE here.
